NVIDIA Secures a 4.25GW AI Factory Site for OpenAI

NVIDIA partnered with SB Energy to secure land, power, and data-center capacity at the PORTS-Pike Technology Campus in Ohio. OpenAI will build and operate the AI factory using NVIDIA’s full-stack DSX platform, with capacity expected to come online between 2028 and 2030.

Highlights

  • The initial deployment is expected to provide 4.25 gigawatts of capacity

  • NVIDIA estimates each hardware generation could use roughly 1.5 million GPUs and represent $150–$200 billion in revenue.

  • NVIDIA says OpenAI’s existing and planned infrastructure commitments could represent approximately $600 billion through 2030.

Why it matters: NVIDIA is expanding beyond selling chips to securing the land and power needed to run them. The 20-year site could support multiple hardware generations, helping OpenAI scale as land, power, and data-center capacity become major AI constraints.

Claude Code Can Now Design Interfaces Before Coding Them

Anthropic introduced /design, a research-preview skill that brings Claude Design’s artboard workflow into Claude Code CLI and Desktop. It generates editable UI artboards, letting developers choose a direction, refine the design, and then ask Claude to implement it.

The broader shift is bringing visual design and coding into one agent workflow. Developers can explore different interface ideas before implementation, reducing the handoff between separate design and development tools.
