Google's biggest developer conference of the year just wrapped — with 100 AI announcements in 72 hours. Anthropic's co-founder predicted AI will win a Nobel within a year. And the White House quietly postponed its long-awaited AI executive order.
The story this week: AI just stopped being about who has the smartest model. It's about who owns where you already work, search, and spend.
Let's get into it. 👇

🚀 Google I/O Just Dropped 100 AI Updates in 3 Days. Here Are the Three That Matter.
Google held its biggest developer conference of the year May 19-22 and announced 100 product updates. Most of them are noise. Three actually matter.

1. Gemini 3.5 is now Google's default model, replacing every previous version across Search, Workspace, and the Gemini app. The Gemini app's monthly active users just jumped from 400 million to over 900 million in six months.
2. Search is being rebuilt from scratch. Google declared "the era of ten blue links is over" and started rolling out a new intelligent search box where AI agents run 24/7 in the background and build mini-apps on the fly from your questions.
3. Gemini Spark entered beta — a personal AI that works 24/7 in the cloud while your laptop is closed. Inbox triaged. Reports drafted. Hidden fees flagged at 2 a.m. It runs without you.
The bigger picture: Alphabet plans up to $190 billion in AI capital spending this year. That's not a tech budget. That's a moonshot. Google has decided it will not lose the AI war.

🔹ChatGPT Just Learned to Fill Out Your Paperwork
ChatGPT now reads forms through Images + Voice Mode. Upload a form, say what to fill in, get back a completed version. 810K views in 24 hours says the use case is universal — anyone who has stared at a PDF form already gets it. The DMV, the IRS, and HR onboarding just got their first real productivity unlock.
🔹Anthropic's Co-Founder Says AI Will Win a Nobel Within a Year
At Oxford on May 21, Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark told the audience that AI will collaborate on a Nobel-winning discovery within 12 months. Not assist. Not help. Collaborate. Two years ago this would have been laughed out of the room. In 2026, it sounds plausible. That shift is the story.
🔹The White House Just Postponed Its AI Executive Order
The Trump administration's long-awaited AI executive order — which would have created a voluntary 90-day pre-launch review for frontier AI models — was postponed on May 21. Internal disagreements between innovation-first and security-first factions are the cause. No new signing date announced.
