Sanctuary AI Debuts Advanced Seventh-Generation Phoenix Robot

Sanctuary AI, a key player in humanoid robotics, recently unveiled the latest iteration of its Phoenix robot. This seventh generation focuses on upper body functions, demonstrating human-like precision in sorting tasks and swift adaptability to new tasks, learning them in under 24 hours.

While the industry often showcases mechatronics, as seen in Boston Dynamics' work, the evolution of robotic intelligence is crucial. Sanctuary AI’s newest Phoenix advances this goal, showing notable improvements in operational efficiency, motion range, weight reduction, and material costs.

Geordie Rose, co-founder and CEO, highlighted this model as a significant step towards achieving general-purpose AI robotics and closer to artificial general intelligence. This launch, coupled with a new partnership with Magna auto manufacturing, underscores Sanctuary AI's forward momentum in robotics.

MIT CSAIL Advances Understanding of Image Memorability

Researchers at MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) have developed new insights into why certain images stick in our memories. Using a combination of magnetoencephalography (MEG) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), they have detailed how the brain processes memorable versus forgettable images.

Published in PLOS Biology, the study involved 78 image pairs, each contrasting a memorable image with a forgettable one. The findings reveal a distinct brain response to memorable images, occurring about 300 milliseconds after viewing, particularly in the ventral occipital and temporal cortex areas.

Lead researcher Benjamin Lahner notes that memorable images elicit stronger and longer-lasting brain activity, suggesting new avenues for diagnosing and treating memory-related disorders.

Adobe Reveals New Generative AI Capabilities at MAX London

At Adobe MAX London, Adobe showcased the latest enhancements to its Creative Cloud offerings, including the debut of the Adobe Firefly Image 3 Model. Now in beta across the Firefly web app, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign, this update is set to transform creative workflows.
