This Issue: Google reorganized DeepMind as Demis Hassabis shifts toward long-term AGI strategy. Meta launched persistent coding agents, FLUX 3 added video with native audio, and Prime Agent gave AI programmable memory. Plus: MiniMax H3 runs on consumer hardware, an FDA-cleared breast-imaging tool, a cinematic video tutorial, and AI’s growing junior-job problem.

Google Reshuffles DeepMind as Demis Says AGI Is Close

Google reorganized its AI leadership as Demis Hassabis moved from day-to-day management into two strategic roles: Chair of Google DeepMind and Chief Scientist of Alphabet. Koray Kavukcuoglu will become SVP of DeepMind, overseeing Gemini development, frontier research, and its app and developer teams.

Highlights

  • Hassabis will focus on long-term AGI strategy and science

  • Koray Kavukcuoglu will lead Google DeepMind

  • Gemini 4 is already under development

  • The Gemini app has surpassed 950 million monthly users

  • Hassabis will continue leading AI drug-discovery company Isomorphic Labs

  • Jeff Dean and Sanjay Ghemawat are launching an independent research company

Why it matters: Google is separating the work of shipping competitive AI products from shaping its longer-term AGI strategy. Kavukcuoglu will drive Gemini’s development, while Hassabis focuses on advanced research, global AGI questions, and using AI to accelerate discoveries in areas such as cancer treatment.

The FDA Cleared an AI That Helps Read Breast Ultrasounds

DeepHealth received FDA clearance for AI that detects suspicious areas in breast-ultrasound images, describes its findings, and helps draft reports. The system is designed to improve consistency and help radiologists work more efficiently. It adds another set of AI “eyes” to a common form of cancer screening.

🔹Meta Launches Muse Code with Persistent AI Agents

Meta released Muse Code, a terminal coding agent powered by its new Muse Spark 1.2 model. It can plan changes, write and validate code across large repositories, while persistent background agents handle supporting work simultaneously. A restart-safe event log lets long tasks resume after crashes. The beta is available for macOS and Linux, with Muse Spark 1.2 also offered through Meta’s API.

🔹FLUX 3 Generates 20-Second Videos with Native Audio

Black Forest Labs released FLUX 3 Video, supporting text-to-video, multi-frame image-to-video, video continuation, and multilingual dialogue. It generates clips up to 20 seconds in native 1080p, while Draft mode offers faster, lower-cost experimentation. The model is available through its API and partner tools, with 2K, 4K, and open weights coming soon.

🔹Maestro Brings MiniMax H3 to Gaming GPUs and MacBooks

Maestro released version 1.5.5 with support for MiniMax H3. Within 48 hours of its open release, community developers had the model running fully offline on hardware its creators never tested, including consumer gaming GPUs and MacBooks. They also built additional tools that were not part of the original roadmap.

Prime Agent Gives AI a Memory It Can Program

Prime Intellect released Prime Agent, an open-source system combining recursive language models, persistent multi-agent orchestration, and a self-improving harness. Its persistent Python environment lets models manage their history, call tools, launch subagents, and store useful information outside the active context.

The bigger shift is turning long AI sessions into a programming problem. Instead of losing direction as context grows, agents can organize their own memory and continue working autonomously. Prime Agent has already built game-console emulators from scratch and completed long-running challenges in Factorio and MazeBench.

Turn One Image into a Cinematic Video with Higgsfield AI

This tutorial explains how to transform a still image into a polished AI video using Higgsfield’s professional camera movements—without filming equipment or complicated editing software.

It includes six image-to-video workflows for action scenes, floating subjects, music videos, time-lapses, cinematic road trips, and macro photography.

The useful part: every example provides the image prompt, recommended motion controls, and practical tips for combining effects such as crash zooms, drone shots, orbits, levitation, and focus changes.

The AI bill isn't what sinks you.

AI costs don't usually explode overnight. They grow quietly through duplicate requests, expensive routing and poor visibility.

AI Is Creating Jobs—but Beginners Are Being Left Behind

Companies adopting AI are expanding faster, but most of that growth is going to experienced workers. Junior hiring rose only 6%, compared with 31% for senior roles. This issue covers how to respond, where to learn, which hackathons are open, and the AI jobs hiring now.
