Featured Spotlight

ChatGPT is becoming a hands-on learning engine at global scale

OpenAI reports that over 300 million people use ChatGPT each week to learn how to do something—build, write, design, analyze, or solve a problem. More than half of U.S. users say it enables them to achieve things that previously felt impossible.

ChatGPT is increasingly used as a step-by-step execution partner, helping users create apps, workflows, and projects without formal training or traditional barriers.

Why it matters

  • AI is shifting from passive knowledge access to active skill acquisition

  • Learning is becoming outcome-driven, not credential-driven

  • The gap between “I want to build” and “I can build” is shrinking fast

New This Week

Degrees still matter in a “skills-first” job market

Indeed Hiring Lab data shows that while skills-first hiring continues to gain traction, bachelor’s degree requirements are quietly rebounding. As of November 2025, 19.3% of U.S. job postings required a bachelor’s degree or higher—up from 16.6% in 2023—driven not just by job mix shifts, but by rising education requirements within the same roles.

Degree expectations differ by location. In Washington, D.C., 22.4% of job postings require a degree, compared to 10.6% in Alaska, showing degrees remain important in high-cost, white-collar areas despite a focus on skills.

Why it matters

  • Skills-first rhetoric hasn’t eliminated degree signaling

  • Employers are raising requirements inside existing roles

  • Geography now plays a larger role in access to degree-gated jobs
